DIY Energy Clearing

As a spiritual medium, I've seen firsthand how powerful a well-cleansed space can be. Whether you're dealing with negative or icky energy in your home, office, or any other space, energy clearing can make a big difference. I've put together this simple DIY guide to help you refresh and harmonize your environment. It's an easy, effective way to remove negativity and invite positive vibes.

Set Your Intention: Think about why you want to cleanse the energy in your home. Is it to get rid of negativity, create harmony, or invite positive vibes?

Declutter Your Space: Get rid of unused and unwanted items that no longer need to be in your space to make more space for positive energy.

Gather Supplies: Collect what you need:

  • Sage: Traditionally used by Indigenous cultures in North America for its powerful cleansing properties.

  • Palo Santo: A sacred wood from South America, known for its sweet aroma and ability to drive away negative energy.

  • A smudge bowl or shell: To catch ashes.

  • Matches or a lighter: Keep them away from kids and flammable stuff.

  • A feather or fan: To spread the smoke.

  • A singing bowl: Originating from ancient Tibetan and Himalayan cultures, known for its healing and clearing vibrations.

Open Windows and Doors: Make sure to open windows and doors for ventilation. This helps the old, stagnant energy to leave and lets in fresh air, preventing smoke buildup.

Start Smudging: Light your sage or palo santo stick and let it burn for a moment, then blow out the flame to create smoke. Move around each room clockwise, paying special attention to corners, doorways, and windows. Visualize negative energies dissipating. Keep a fire-safe container handy to catch ashes and embers.

Use Sound Cleansing: Use the singing bowl by gently striking it or using a mallet to create soothing tones. This helps clear residual energy and brings harmony to your space. Ensure the bowl is on a stable surface to prevent accidents.

Focus on Intentions: While you're cleansing, keep a positive mindset and focus on your goal of a clean and balanced home.

Complete with Salt: Place bowls of salt in the corners of rooms overnight to absorb any lingering negativity, then discard the salt outside. Salt has been used for purification and protection across various cultures.

Seal Your Space: Finish the ritual by visualizing your home filled with positive energy, then close doors and windows to keep this refreshed atmosphere inside. Safely extinguish any remaining smudge sticks or incense.

Regular Maintenance: Plan regular energy cleansings to keep your home harmonious and balanced.
